Introduction-Jake
Hey guys, my name is Jake and I'm 18 years old. I just returned from MEPS today with a 68W Option 40 contract and I'm scheduled to ship November 18, 2013. I look forward to the future and the tips I'll learn on here.

Welcome. Not a lot of time before you ship. You, my friend, are about to be shot out of a cannon at 1.5 times the speed of sound. At least, that is what it will feel like. PM inbound.

Also, a little more about yourself, if you please. Where are you from? Why Ranger Medic?.. and make it good.

Re: Introduction-Jake
Thanks for the welcome Rangers.
Roger, Ranger Doc. I was born in Arizona and since then have lived in California and now Texas. I've lived here (Austin) for about 5 years. I was going to Blinn College in College Station but soon realized college was not for me and then dropped my classes. So I go back and forth as I still have an apartment and friends up there. Originally, I wanted an 11X Option 40 but, my recruiter contacted me and informed me of a 68W option 40 contract. I was told I would do all the things the 11X would do just with more responsibilites so I figured the extra training couldn't hurt and went for it. Also, my step dad was a 91B.Sleepy Doc wrote:Also, a little more about yourself, if you please. Where are you from? Why Ranger Medic?.. and make it good.

Re: Introduction-Jake
It's been a while since I've given you guys an update so here it is. I graduated basic February 20 and AIT started the 24. The EMT portion was pretty boring but the instructors make it alright. We're a couple weeks into whiskey phase which is a lot more fun. On my record PT test I scored a 314. Run-12:59 SU-78 PU-85, needs improvement as barely I made the 300. I also had a quick question, there's another guy with a RASP contract here saying something about having to re-up for another 2 years, is this true?
Re: Introduction-Jake
Not true for you - you have a contract which shows when you started and when you will finish. Don't listen to rumors & men trying to bullshit you..Warpig12354 wrote:It's been a while since I've given you guys an update so here it is. I graduated basic February 20 and AIT started the 24. Re: Introduction-Jake
Roger Ranger Steadfast would be the appropriate response. If you have looked around you will see this is not Facebook or any other dumb website. Now to answer your question. If you make it through RASP and complete PreSOCM and then complete SOCM (which go read the SOCM review by bloody_limey to see what you are in for) you owe regiment 26 months of time. You will either extend or reup to satisfy that requirement. It depends on where in your contract you are for what options are available to you at the time. And Ranger Steadfast is 100% correct it is all in your contract. If you read it there is the part that tells you how much time you owe regiment.
