Introduction - Cgeyser93
Hello Rangers!
I'm Cgeyser93, a 19 year old civilian enlisting into the Army with an 11x option 40 contract tomorrow at meps (I leave today to check into the hotel). Enlisting in the Military was something that I always had in my mind ever since I was young, and now I'm making it my reality. I'm very excited and enthusiastic about my career choice, but I also understand the incredible challenges one must overcome to don the tan beret and continue to serve in the 75th Ranger Regiment. I stand in awe of what you men have achieved and I hope to continue on the same path as you have.
I have been soaking up all the information I could on this website over the past year and a half, though I will admit I was dead set on a career in special forces until about 3 months ago when I sat down and really looked at what it was I wanted to do with my career. I came to the decision that the 75th Ranger Regiment was the job I wanted and now that I have a contract set up I figured it was time to register and introduce myself.
Admittedly I have made some mistakes in my training, and have focused (probably too much) on developing the necessary upper body strength and as such my running is very lacking. I've picked up a lot of knowledge from your physical training section and I am working on it every single day. I wasn't planning on enlisting until sometime next year, but I got incredibly lucky and was able to receive an 11x option 40 the day I took my ASVAB, so I am a little nervous as I feel my time to prepare is much shorter, but I am confident that I can achieve my goal.
I will be self administering a PT test today and will have the results to you shortly, and thank you Rangers for putting together such an excellent resource for the public.

Re: Introduction - Cgeyser93
Sorry for the delay, Rangers.
My trip to MEPS took longer than expected and I've ran into a few speedbumps. I've actually ended up with a different job though my processing is still not completed yet.
I was afforded the opportunity to test for a job by my service Liason , which my recruiter had previously told me was unavailable. I guess my ASVAB got me the opportunity to take the DLAB which I passed and I am now slotted as a 35M and I go to discuss options this Monday (though I doubt the availability of an option 40).
Here are the results of the PT test I took, I had left for MEPS before my thread had been approved.
PUSHUPS - 69
SITUPS - 71
2 MILE RUN - 17:51 (Extremely embarassing, and a huge factor in my decision to forefit my 11x slot and go with a 35M)
PULLUPS - 13
Even though I am no longer headed on the path to becoming a Ranger it is something I plan to pursue later in my career when I have matured within the Army (and also increased my PT scores.). I am still very grateful for the information and confidence you have given me to pursue a career in the Army.
Thanks again Rangers.

Not so. 35M is an MOS 75th Ranger Regiment requires. Your Recruiter is lazy. Never, never quit!

I was partially aware of that, however I was told slots for option 40's (other than 11x) we limited to about 10 per MOS and go very quickly, so I assumed my chances of attaining one were next to nil.
I am still going to inquire about its availability, but if there is no availability is that something I can volunteer for at the end of my basic training or my AIT ?

Re: Introduction - Cgeyser93
Thanks again for the warm welcome Rangers and Members, sorry I haven't been active for the past couple of weeks. I've been doing a lot of researching about my MOS as well as getting a lot of stuff squared away with my recruiter, etc.
I'm back now having picked up a lot of knowledge from another website and have found out my prospects for getting a slot at RASP are not nearly as bleak as I was told.
If any Rangers have some free time to just give a little advice it would be great to get in touch with someone, I don't have any specific questions (the search function is my best friend), however I think it would just be really rewarding to get some 1 on 1 feedback from someone who's living the life I hope to live.
Sorry for the wall of text (again)!

Someone who is more current may add more detail, but Regiment has Liaison NCOs at the Army schools, they talk to most classes and may offer you a slot. In the meantime, please post your PT scores on this thread. Never, never quit!

During my PT this morning I did max rep of these events:Jim wrote:Someone who is more current may add more detail, but Regiment has Liaison NCOs at the Army schools, they talk to most classes and may offer you a slot. In the meantime, please post your PT scores on this thread. Never, never quit!
71 pushups
62 situps
13 chinups
my numbers haven't improved that much, it's been a bit of a month, I had my wisdom teeth out which kept me out of commission for 1.5 weeks (lost 8 lbs from 163 to 155 at 5'11) as things hadn't gone nearly as smoothly as they were supposed to and I am now recovering from a foot injury as well. I expect to be pounding the pavement by next week and will have the latest run times as soon as I get out.
Apologies
