Hello
Hello. My name is John. I am 28 years old and am a college graduate. I currently work as a Security Manager for a resort outside of Chicago. I am currently in the final phases of being hired by the Chicago Police Department. This process is one that began with the Department's written test, which I took in January of 2003. My father is prior service with the Marine Corp, and his father with the Army. I have been raised with an incredible amount of respect for those who serve, and have always had a strong desire to be amongst the elite. I have been raised with the military, and therefore built the core of my beliefs around duty and leadership. I have found the corporate life that I have led up to this point to be wholly unsatisfying with regards to these beliefs. It is for this reason that I am changing careers. However, I have made the determination that should the City of Chicago not hire me, I will enlist with the United States Army and become a Ranger. I am unwilling to squander another two years of my life in testing. I want to serve.
I am in excellent physical condition, and my mind is utterly focused on becoming the absolute best at whatever service I endeavor in. I am looking forward to exploring this site, learning, and being led by those who are so much more qualified than I. I thank you for your time and leadership.

I don't know you from Adam, but based completely on your intro, I would bet money that you will succeed. Sounds like you are squared away and have set your sights high. A career with CPD or with the U.S.Army Rangers will both be challenging, rewarding, and worthwhile. It's good to cross paths with men like you who set these types of goals. It is my sincere wish that you attain these goals.
Best of luck to you on both counts. If we may be of service, please ask. There are many years of combined experience, both in the military and in LE on this board. Chances are, we have the answers to any questions you might have. Welcome to the site.

Other people were fine and you liked them and were good friends; but you only felt true tenderness and love for those who had been there and had received the castigation that everyone receives who goes there long enough."
