Tips and Information

Post by Longhorn99 »

Greetings Rangers,

I am currently only a Junior in high school. At the moment my plans include becoming an officer. I am applying to West Point in the fall and hopefully will get accepted! If I attend West Point or join ROTC at a college I would like to go through Airborne and Ranger school aferwards. My number one goal after completing this would be to be the best officer that I can be. I was wondering what the best route in your opinions would be to go through with this. Any information or tips which would be of help to me would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you all for your service, I hope to one day earn your respect.

Thank you for your time, Rangers.

My deepest apologies Ranger Lefty. I hope the mistake has been corrected properly, it will not happen again. Thank you for your time and advice.

You really need to pay attention to detail. Your first two posts were in the Veterans and Mosh Pit threads, not an auspicious start for a Ranger aspirant.
At the time I responded to your Mosh Pit post, a rather considerate Ranger moderator moved your post to this, the proper forum.

I do not usually address this thread, but since you caught my attention, I will go one more step.

My title is "Ranger Advisor". I am NOT an advisor to future soldiers, nor do I attampt to advise young Rangers. For a brief exercise, post a definition of "Ranger Advisor" in 25 words or less NLT 1800 hrs CDT today.

Also do a self administered PT test and post the results NLT 1800 hrs CDT 25 July.

Depending on how you respond, others may be along to address you.

Ranger Advisor Lefty where should I post the definition of "Ranger Advisor"? I need to pay more attention, thank you. The other introduction I posted in the correct place was posted before I received notification of this reply, and was not a contradiction to you in any way shape or form.

Post your replies to Ranger Lefty here, since here is where he assigned your tasks to you.

The way I became a Ranger and have earned the small amount of success I have had in life has been mostly due to one quality - determination. Lefty.

Ranger Advisor: A Ranger qualified soldier, or Ranger, who advised and fought alongside the ARVN and Biet Dong Quan during Vietnam.
If this is incorrect I hope my ignorance does not offend you in any way. I am honored to be spoken to by you, thank you for what you did.

Would you like the PT Test to be an Army PT Test or a Ranger PT Test?

OK answer to the first.

Read, Read, & READ these forums to see what is expected for a PT test.

99.99% of your questions, including the ones you haven't thought of yet, have been answered in the open threads.

Please do not be wasting our time here. I shouldn't even be spending this much time on this thread, but it caught my eye and I got myself into it. Now go read much and post little. I get the impression that, for all your professed interest, you have not researched or read very much about the military, the Army, and the Rangers.

I'm done here.

Thank you Ranger Advisor Lefty, the motivation was very much appreciated. After looking through topics for a few hours I finally realized just how much yall are willing to share about experiences and advice. I am so lucky to have this information at my fingertips.

PT TEST:
2 min push ups: 73
2 min sit ups: 69
2 mile run: 13:27
