Semper Fi, Mac.
My father was a MAG 'Wingnut" too, only his work was around PBJs, F6Fs, F7Fs, F4Us and cool planes like that.

"i am here because my brother is a Ranger KIA Viet, Nam 1971 L-Co. 75th Kia Apr 23rd 1971 on hill 809."

Welcome, Marine...and thank you for your service. Truly sorry for your loss. I am posting a few links here that I hope may help your quest. This story was posted in another forum, just weeks ago, hope this is useful. Please be forewarned...it is very specific and having not been there myself, I cannot speak for the accuracy of the story. I have a feeling some senior Ranger members are lurking around here that may be able to you help out far more than I can, but here is a place to start:

Rangers in Peril on Hiil 809

For those who have not seen it. This article was in this months VFW Magazine, written by Gary Linderer. He is a Vietnam veteran of L Company (Rangers), 101st Airborne and author of five books on the Rangers. Many of you probably know him personally.

This thread was started in another forum called "The Mosh Pit", not sure if you can access it yet (and I apologize to the moderators if this constitutes any breach in etiquette/SOP on my behalf) but there is more information out there if you are looking. Also try this link:

The big dogs will be along soon.....until then, Peace be with you, Brother.

Rangers Lead The Way, but you Jarheads are alright in my book, too.

The way I became a Ranger and have earned the small amount of success I have had in life has been mostly due to one quality - determination. Lefty.
