Off to RASP!

Post by Cisco4711 »

Hello Rangers,

Tomorrow I get picked up and Monday we officially start. Im really nervous and scared to be honest, but it's only because I still want it that bad! I know what to expect and now its GO time. Thanks to everyone on this site for the invaluable knowledge i've received and i'll report back whenever I can.

P.S- texasrusty is shipping with me as well and he's still just as motivated as I am!

You'd be a fool not to be nervious. Courage is what you do with it.

You know the score, just get it done.

I''ll break one of my personal rules and curse just this one time.

You better not fucking quit or you'll end up in the Air Force with some stupid MOS like Maintenance Crew. If that doesn't motivate you- nothing will.

Seriously, if you listen to the unparalleled wisdom these guys have, you will be fine. And don't forget what Von Clausewitz said;
"Never forget that no military leader has ever become great without audacity. If the leader is filled with high ambition and if he pursues his aims with audacity and strength of will, he will reach them in spite of all obstacles.
"
If you want to be successful at anything, you'll need to develop a never quit attitude. Don't let life happen to you. Grab it by the throat and make life dance to your tune.

You are about to do what few do not have the guts to even try. It's not a hard 8 weeks, but rather the start to a hard, but rewarding, lifestyle. Just remember, if it was easy, everyone would do it.
"Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorius triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."

Hello Rangers, just here to give a SITREP

I unfortunately didn't complete my mission on becoming a Ranger. I voluntarily withdrew the 3rd week of the course because I was going to get peered the next week based on my performance. Looking back I should've stayed and gotten peered because then I would've been allowed to recycle. I was very dissapointed that day, but then again i believe everything happens for a reason.

I ended up with the 173rd Airborne Brigade 2 weeks ago and I'm loving it here. I ended up in 2nd Batt, B co, 2nd Platoon (Restrepo platoon). I'm doing great here and I plan on being as highspeed I can within this unit. Being a Ranger is on hold for me now, but I would love to go back if I can when I re-enlist. Maybe in a couple of years I'll post back on this board when I get my tab..or mayb even when I get my 2nd shot at joining the Ranger batallion. But until then, thanks everyone on this site for the invaluable information that you posted on this site.

P.S- TexasRusty quit the 2nd day of RASP because "his leg was hurting". He ended up going to the 82nd Airborne.
