I am a Marine Corps logistics officer with a Marine Reconnaissance Battalion. I'm about 90% complete on my inter-service transfer package to the Army. I'm simply waiting for my physical, and then to route it through my chain of command. Outside of submitting an IST package, my other option is to simply EAS in September of this year (2011), and then put in a package to join the Army. My only concern would be how it would affect my TIS, which it shouldn't. If I have to lose Time in Rank, then so be it, at least it would give me more time at the company grade level. Having been on the support side with a unit that has a specialized mission, I have a great appreciation for our Elite - Marines, Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen. To put it bluntly, I'm done with sitting on the "support side-line," and I'm ready to take the challenge.
If this means that I have to join solely as an infantry officer first IOT earn a chance to go through the Ranger pipe-line, and then to Ranger Battalion..... I've already got one ruck-strap on, and I'm ready to charge the (*&^'ing hill!
Any gouge or guidance, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
