Nice Apartments / Ft. Benning Area?

Post by Splat »

I have a family member and her husband that are PCS'ing to Ft. Benning in the summer. They are looking for housing and looking for advice for some of the 'nicer' apartments in the area. He's an E-5 and will be receiving BAQ.

Any suggestions?

Sorry. I really do hope there are some nice apartments there now. "Back in the day" the best you could hope for was a "secluded" trailer park.

There are some nicer apartments off of exits 10 and 12, although I can't speak to specific ones. I imagine if you go to google maps and zero in on north Columbus and enter "apartments" you'll have a list to start looking at.

This place has cleaned up a lot since we were stationed here in the early 90's.

Invictus is correct, you want to stay on the Northern part of Columbus.

And there are decent house rentals out towards River Rd, and south of the Manchester Expressway, west of 185.

Before I bought my house over in Fort Mitchell I lived at Greystone Summit which was probably the best out of the three I used. They have many properties some obviously newer than others. The newest is out on Exit 12, at least it was a couple years ago. Most of them are fairly new though.

I'm sure someone will tell him to go to Whisperwood, but advise him against it. It's full of rookie LTs and Cottonmouth hockey players that will spend most of the day sexually harassing his wife. There's a really nice apartment complex off of Hwy 80. I think it's the Shomburg rd. exit.

I recently PCSed to Benning. During my search, I checked out many of the Greystone Properties. I found the staff to be helpful and courteous at the properties I contacted. Stay north of Exit 6 is what I was told... that's what I did.
