A new year means a new house for an Army war veteran who was severely wounded while serving in Iraq.
Army Specialist Hugo L. Gonzalez was surprised today with a mortgage-free, custom-built home at halftime at the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl at SMU’s Gerald J. Ford Stadium.
The thousands of bowl spectators gave Gonzalez a loud, long round of applause.
A new home in North Texas will be a fresh start for Gonzalez, his wife and their three children, who live in Florida.
