Navy Doc

Post by Navy Doc »

I'm a Brit (Scottish really!) who has wide varied interest in all things military.

I completed 22 years in the Royal Navy as a Medic, serving in many singleton roles at sea, with a period of three years in the middle serving with Royal Marine Commando Forces ( 45 RM Cdo). Finishing off my last "10" in the SAR environment (Seaking helo's) and teaching/assessing for my last two appointments.

On "retiring" from the RN, I immediately joined the Royal Fleet Auxiliary as a Ship's Medic still on active service. In the last 9 years with the RFA, I have spent a lot of sea time in the Arabian Gulf and have worked on a number of occasions with the USGC LEDET in Boarding Ops in the Caribbean and in the NAG

I have seen Active/Operational Service in;

Falkland War 1982 (E3 Medic)
Iraq War 2003 (E7 Medic)
Afghanistan (Maritime Support) 2001 to present day (E7 Medic)

Am I right in thinking you have also done a SAR tour as well, while in the USN?

The way I became a Ranger and have earned the small amount of success I have had in life has been mostly due to one quality - determination. Lefty.
