option 40 conserns/ eligibility to volunteer for RASP

Post by DROOGIE »

Hello Rangers,
I posted my introduction a while back and have been taking care of a legal issue that i needed to clear up. Last February i was arrested for a DUI. Although after taking a ten week Alcohol Education Program i had the charges dismissed, although this is seen the same as a conviction by the army is my understanding. I have already talked to my recruiter and will be applying for a moral waiver. Wednesday I will be going in to take my ASVAB and my Recruiter tells me that i will "Begin Processing" not completely sure what that will entail at this point.
So to get to the point of my post, I am reasonable sure from all my research an option 40 contract will be impossible or near impossible to secure, however option 4 will be possible. Is this correct Rangers? Would it be worthwhile to try getting an option 40 or is it just completely 100% not going to happen.
The Second question i have is if i am unable to secure an option 40 for myself, but get an option 4(which i completely refuse to sign without) will i be eligible to volunteer for RASP?

I have searched and exhausted all the resources i could find to answer this question, mainly the second part, and have not found anything. I apologize to all you Rangers if this has been answered here before and i missed it.

I guess in your exhaustive research you missed this:

Droogie,
My moral waiver(DUI) just came back down the line last week and now I am waiting for a slot w/ option 40 to open up. It's never impossible, just keep working at it and don't settle. PM me if you have any specific questions.

Now back to my lane.

Just so you know if you were get a DUI while serving in the 75th Ranger Regt you would be slapped with an article 15. Which means you lose 2/3 of your pay for 2 months and you will be restricted to the barracks when you aren't on extra duty for up to 45 days. And you will be RFSed that means Released For Standards, which means, depending on how bad you have pissed off your chain of commad, you will be on orders to some wonderful place like Korea or Ft Riley KS. YOu don't need a lecture from me but there is no alcohol class to take when you join the army and alcohol related incedents are no bullshit.

While I appreciate that upgrade, I didn't earn it.

Veteran, Airborne, douchebag formerly known as SSG would work fine. Good try though. Attention to detail.

And Ranger Baseplate is right...which is why you're calling me Vet today instead of Ranger. Take heed to his words.

How about at least -Sir, giving the dirt you chewed?

From recent battle history I can recall, 48th BCT 2/121, etc. earned their CIB's and then some.

But that's just me.

IEDmagnet Sir, Sorry for my confusion.

Ranger Baseplate, Thank you for the heads up. I will keep that in mind, but at any rate i am 100% sure that i will never have a repeat of that incident. I take full responsibility for my mistake and have absolutely learned from it.

Since you saw the post, I guess you saw this part then:

Ranger Goon175, Yes i saw that part, "d. No moral waivers" is in regards to getting an option 40. What i am looking to find out is if having a moral waiver would have any effect on my eligibility to volunteer for RASP from Airborne School.
