Entering the Army with dreams of being a ranger.. but..

Greetings all Rangers, Military personnel, civilians, ect.

my name is Donald. i am a 20 year old male from long island ny, with hopes of becoming a U.S. Army Ranger. my highest level of education is Advanced high school regents diploma. i spoke with a recruiter today, and theres a couple of issues. my score on the ASVAB was a 69. However, my GT score was a 106, 1 point under the required 107 needed for the Ranger contract. the other issue is.. the recruiter is telling me that there is no Ranger slots open. what he is telling me to do is to go with an 11x-ray contract (?) which im guessing would make me standard Army Infantry. after AIT training, he says, i can take this course that will help me boost up my GT score, so that i may hopefully try out for Rangers. the only thing is, im feeling a bit "sketchy" on this. i dont want to be regular infantry, but if it means i can work my way up to Rangers in the near future, well then so be it.

so my questions are..
1). is there any way to waive, or get around the 1 point difference on my GT score for Rangers?
2). if i take the 11x contract, is it definite that i will be able to pursue a Ranger career rather quickly?

i appreciate any and all legitimate comments and opinions on this matter. thank you.

i just got back from a long day at MEPS ny. finally enlisted and took my oath of service today also. there were no option 4, or opt 40's available unfortunately. as of right now im signed up for 11x infantry, and my ship date to fort Benning is 2011 april 5. I must say I am pretty psyched to finally be enlisted, and I am looking forward to everything that is coming my way. In the days ahead I am still going to push for my recruiter to at least get me the airborne option before basic training, that way i can be one step closer to my goal of becoming a Ranger. I sure as hell wont give up hope and I know i will make it to that goal some day.
