Everyone should read this in its entirety.  It is of great import for the future of our military, and our relationship to the 99% of Americans who will never serve.

That was an awesome speech. IMO I believe maybe 1% of the students there will change how they feel about military service. It was a good try but it's pissing in the wind.

And that is why Gates was so appreciated at Texas A&M. That was an excellent speech, one that most could never fully appreciate. Personally, I know I do not fully appreciate it....yet, but I know, sometime in the near future, my hope is that I will fully appreciate and understand it.
