“Gary is one of the finest field soldiers I have ever met in my entire life,” Gary Dolan, O’Neal’s platoon leader while he was in Charlie Company, 75th Ranger Regiment, said. “His ability to track the enemy soldier was the best I have ever seen.”
“The rangers are the toughest and best light infantry unit in the world,” O’Neal said.

Ditto, Lt, Big O was a great team leader & super head hunter. I'm proud to say that he was the first to tell me about Charlie Rangers (which I signed up for a few weeks later after attending the 173rd's Jungle School), he was going back to Nam after extending his tour & me going for my 1st tour.
Gary was a hella of a Ranger back then, as today with a deep military resume.

Pretty sure he mastered the mindset (Pic above) from his association and teachings from Mike Echanis (Most of us FOG's remember him)

Echanis was a specialist in the art of Hwa Rang Do. He was a civilian H2H instructor at SWC and was known for these demos and others. His ability to pierce his neck or elbow with a spike and suspend weighted objects, amongst other things was pretty amazing, as is the same with the Chief.

Congratulations Chief O'Neal. Your induction was long overdue.
