Hello Rangers,
My name is Matt, i am a 22 year old college student (at least until May 11th) when i will be deciding to take a break to pursue my interests in serving in the military. Since a young age i have wanted to serve in the army, more specifically the Ranger Regiment and have decided that I'm not getting any younger and don't want to finish college before enlisting. i have been to a recruiter at took a practice ASVAB with a score of 59 which will allow me to enlist with either the 13f or 11x contract i would like (and i refuse to sign any contract without option 40) Unfortunately i have a petty legal issue that needs to be resolved prior to enlisting, but not an issue that would make any difference according to the recruiter i talked with. I would like to thank all the Rangers and Administrators who make this forum 1) possible and 2) so damn informative, i have found TONS of useful information and am very grateful for it. I'm not sure what or if i might need to post in the future however I thought it would be worth while to say hello and introduce myself, so that it would be an option if the need should arise. I am very much looking forward to being able to finalize my enlistment and will succeed in my hopes of serving in the Ranger Regiment or die trying.

Ranger JLTW!!!,
I have decided to not finish school at the current time for a number of reasons, none of which are grade related. I'm not going to say I'm some Doogie Houser but i usually get C-B grades, few A in there. the reasons, aside from just plain wanting this more than anything are, i took my first 2 and a half years at community college, where i got my associates degree in general studies plus an extra semester of credits that will transfer to a state university. The problem here is even a state school is considerable more expensive than community college and although my parents have offered their financial help i have always been more to refuse a handout. So the money toward college certainly couldn't come at a better time. Another college related motivation to pick now over later service is that moving to a State University i still cannot say with any certainty what i would be interested in studying, 4 or more years to think couldn't hurt.
to get to 'petty' legal issues. I got a DUI at a .092. I take drunk driving very seriously and do not object to any of the consequences put on me. although i felt perfectly fine, even having taken a nap before leaving the bar .08 is the law, end of story. The up end, the first offense in CT does not actually count as your "first offense" its more like a warning. As opposed to 48 hour lock up, a record, and probation. I was ordered to 10 weeks of alcohol education program and 90 days without a license. However their is no DUI or anything else on my record.
my PT scores are looking pretty decent, no matter what theirs always room to improve. i have been most recently doing 30 push up sets 6-8 times a day and been maxing out about 50-55. Situps i do a few times a day until i give up, usually around 70 reps. my running is what needs to most improvement, i clocked my gym to be 5.1 miles from home so i get dropped their to work out for the day then i run home, which takes me usually about 55 minutes sometimes a little less.
i most defiantly will be "sticking to my guns" as you say. because it will be mid to late summer before i get my classes and license suspension out of the way if i need to i will just wait for the next military fiscal year, which i believe i read was beginning of October.
