Hello Rangers and any others reading,
My name is Nathan and I am a 25 year old college graduate actively pursuing an 11x Opt 40 contract. I have several waiver-requiring issues which include a DWAI from over 4 years ago while I was in college, a shoulder surgery last year to repair a separated AC joint, and an ankle surgery 6 years ago. Physically, I am fully recovered from both procedures with no recurring issues or limitations and have completed a self administered PT test in the last week: 76 pushups/2 min, 68 situps/2min, 18 pullups (strict), 12:17 2 mile run. I have already taken the ASVAB, scoring 98 (138GT). Since my alcohol-related driving offense I finished my 4 year degree, was selected as a research grantee with the National Science Foundation, held a professional job for over 2 years and I am on the verge of completing my private helicopter pilot’s license in my spare time. I realize I have numerous challenges and obstacles to overcome to reach my goal of obtaining a Ranger Contract but I am fully confident that I have matured as a person since my lapse in judgment in the past. I have already answered many of my own questions by using this forum and plan on being as prepared and informed as possible while working with a recruiter. From reading others’ posts I know people have gotten contracts with similar waivers, however uncommon they may be. I will not quit.
Thank you Rangers for your service and taking the time to read my introduction.

Re: Introduction - Nathan
Welcome. Your desire to serve our country as an Army Ranger is appreciated. Your medical waivers will depend on the doctors at MEPS. The waiver for your offense is a common one and should be granted. Good luck and be sure to read and heed the ROE PM I have sent you.
