Don't limit yourself. Stick to the Opt40, of course, but consider some more challenging career fields. 13F is heavily championed by all those who were F.O.s, but those slots are rare (but if you are in the right place and time - grab it). The Regiment never has enough 68W medics and that is more challenging than most other choices, but the rewards are greater. And the 25C radio operators hold it all together. Just some food for thought.

The longer MEPS takes, the better shape you'll be in.

Msuredhawk,

My son just recently signed an 11x Option 40 in the time frame you have been seeking one. We were in your situation and heeded the advice from so many Rangers here with regards to recruiters: firm but polite. I should say my son was firm but polite, I was that loud background noise saying "Bullshit" all the time.

We went so far as to contact (through this board) those DEPs that got their shit. One particular DEP that helped us gave us his recruiters location half way across the country and we called him and he found the Option 40 late on a Saturday nite! We then described to our recruiter the process they followed to get it; call/check everyday until one can be reserved. Follow this with the simple question "Are you willing to do this for me?" then proceed accordingly. After that we got emails just about everyday...you'll get yours.......
