Hello Rangers,
I was in 2nd Batt from Jan 79 to 82'ish. Was in B Company, 3rd Plt. No formal RIP back then, but Steve Conlon did a very nice job of ladling the suck on us and making us wonder if he had a deer or antelope in his gene pool. Went to Ranger School as a PV2 (yep, no shit) and graduated class 504-79 with half a dozen other batt boys (just 1st and 2nd back then) and a shitload of Hudson High Grads who hadn't been to their basic course.

Served with guys like Birch, Giles, Dunn. None of which were in 3rd Plt. Had a PSG named Mellenger who is the AMC CSM now. Was the Wpns Sqd Ldr for quite a while before I left and moved on to 10th SFG(A) (still at Devens). Was the first of three brothers to hit 2/75.

Did some stuff, went on to other units after 10th SFG. Served with heroes, wasn't one myself. Got out after 24 years. Looking for old mates and to meet some new ones.

Cheers,
JARC

I am in contact with D from time to time. We were in F Company, 51st LRSU in Germany. He is the guy who was really lucky, but everyone around him would get fucked up. He was in the C-130 wreck in the early 80s with 2/75. He went down in a couple of helicopters in training. He lost some of his hearing when mortars hit the Battalion in Honduras and there were fatalities. He got stabbed during a combatives demonstration and then shot with a wad from a blank that penetrated his back. He was part of the "Tacoma dome massacre" that scared the hell out of that Christian group during the hand to hand demo. He also did that rappel into the Tacoma Dome. Magician has a picture on his web page, that lists him as "I don't know who this is", about to do that rappel.
