Introduction

Post by PilSung »

Hello all Rangers and all other members!

I am SPC Oxxxxx of the 401st EN Company(MRBC) of the Army Reserves. I enlisted 31DEC08 and shipped to FLW for OSUT on 05FEB09. During the AIT portion of OSUT, I was placed on a permanent profile for blowing out my ankle. I am reclassing to 74D, and report to FLW once again on 30DEC09. My ankle has healed much better than expected, so I will be working on getting off of this profile ASAP. I can run, and do everything else. The original profile just excluded running in soft shoes, but I could do everything else.

I am also in the process of getting released to Active Duty from the Reserves. If all goes well, hopefully I can get an Airborne and RIP slot as a 74D....if not....well, then I will do the best wherever I end up and keep trying every chance I get. If it never happens...then I will continue to be the best soldier that I can.

I am here to learn what I can. I will research before asking and only offer advice/opinions that fall within my lane....no spouting rumors, hearsay, etc.

Get into the best shape you can, but train smart. No reason to go home with a disability pension for your ankle.

Thank you Rangers for correcting my PERSEC violation. I obviously was not thinking. I am sorry for the delay in response...I have been studying FM's for CBRN in my spare time and spending a bit of time on military.com as well.

Ranger K.Ingraham...I am doing everything I can to strengthen and train my ankle. A lot of flexband and other exercises that are meant to strengthen my ankle and train my ankle to feel and correct potential inversion. I also am not taking any chances. I wear an ASO brace when I do anything that I may run a risk on. It fits under my boots and is permissible by regs....and it is on my profile. I don't want to run the risk of having to be discharged. Even if I never get to be a Ranger or other USASOC soldier, being a soldier beats the heck out of not being a soldier.

Hello, all. I thought I would drop a quick update since I have been absent from the boards for quite sometime.

First, completed 74D AIT on the commandants list, and returned to my unit. Through some research, I learned that my unit did not properly submit my 368 so I could be released. Now with the current recruiting climate, it is near impossible to get released and be able to enlist for active duty.

So, my only option to going on active is....ROTC. This is going to be a challenge considering that I work 50 hours a week, but I am up for it. It's just going to take some great time management. Hopefully I can get a good branch and then hopefully earn a chance to go to Ranger school and then on to the Regiment after I gain the proper experience.

However, one good thing did happen....my permanent profile was removed! Back to having a picket fence. So, that helps open some doors back up for me once I get to active duty.
