Just got back from Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn. Took the CAT-ASVAB (scores below) and I may have to take it again so I can get the correct score for the General Technical. Hopefully my scores will suffice to get my 11x Opt 40, if not. Re-test. Is it possible to get an 11x Opt 40 with my current scores? Tomorrow I'll hear back from the Ranger SFC at my Recruiting Station about whether or not I got the slot or not.

Thank you Ranger Jim, hopefully all goes well even though I'm seeing a lot of "minimum GT Score: 110". So worse case scenario I have to re-take the ASVAB and get that 110. I'll settle for nothing short of a 11x Opt 40 contract.

I'll hear back from my recruiting station on the matter, within a few hours.

I just got back from my recruiting station, and I sat down with the Ranger SFC, station commander, and he informed me that I met Ranger Qualifications with my scores, but that the 11x Opt 40 slots were not available until sometime around July or August because he pushed it out that far and I watched him do it. The only Ranger slots that were available were truck driver and cook, and he told me that if i chose that he would kick my head in, , so we spoke for about an hour about a few other options and finally we decided the following:

I reserved an 11x Opt 4 Airborne Infantry. If during basic I'm not offered a Ranger slot on my own merit, Ranger SFC would speak to a Ranger Instructor, who he is great friends with because he used to be his Squad Leader so he had leeway. Once speaking with the Ranger Instructor, I would be contacted and given a slot. This most likely would be around June after I finish Basic Airborne Training. Ranger SFC has done this 3 times and all 3 times he got his guys the slot. Ranger SFC told me that he never does this because if he feels someone isn't worthy to become a Ranger, he wouldn't even show them the available slots, but he showed me what was available and told me he'd go through hell and fire to get me a Ranger slot because he saw me as a Future Ranger. I trust him and I will never quit.

I've sworn in and completed everything including my contract. So now I'm a Future Soldier and the path to becoming a Ranger begins. Thank you all for being a great help and inspiration. Happy Veteran's Day. (I know I'm a few hours late)
