Just overlook Rock Island Ranger's skepticism. We should all just be proud that he figured this new fangled internet out. I am sure that the lack of a dialer and a handset threw him for a bit. :D

Sheeiit..... you are opening a can of worms with this one.

(They were call princess phones by the way, and you could kill a person with one).

My home town, up until I was about 10, I could pick up the receiver, jiggle the cradle, and then tell the operator that I wanted to talk to my aunt. the last time I visited, you still didn't have to dial any more than the last 4 digits if it was an in town call. Got friends in the hills around the Chatooga River that still live on a party line.

Most of today's trigger pullers have no idea what a corded phone is, never mind a rotary phone.

My grandmother was pissed at NY telephone til the day she died since they made her swap out her
rotary dial phone back in the early 2000's.

I'm surprised they made her switch. The Baby Bells made a lot of money by charging folks extra for rotary service once they mainstreamed touch tone. I think there were even some class action suits around it.

I can't even imagine the confusion caused by the digital TV abortion.....

RangerX, NY tel blamed the rotary phone as to why her phone would not work when it rained. Fact or fiction, we'll never know. Now her TV clicker (what others refer to as a remote) as far as she was concerned one of the best inventions man ever made, a smart person left her remote alone and did not turn the station when the Waltons or Touched by an Angel was playing, LOL.
