enlistment updated

Post by jedward »

Rangers,

I spoke with my recruiter briefly this morning about which mos I would be choosing while in the Reserves during school. I chose 13f, and since 13f isn't offered in Montgomery, AL he said I would need to get an acceptance letter from the unit at Ft. Benning since it is the closest and that would be my unit. Does this sound correct? There are no infantry options here in Montgomery and I would like to be in an infantry unit while I am in the reserves during ROTC. Thank you you Rangers.

Hello Rangers,

Well I spoke today with a recruiter from Columbus, GA, and I was told that the Army Reserves are not going to be taking anymore infantry mos's. So that will knock me out of 13f. However, she didn't seem to know what she was talking about, she didn't even know that I could go into BCT as an E-3 with 1 year of ROTC. It's getting close to the time for me to make my decision on an mos and even though it will not be the one I keep, I will have it for the next 4 years so I want to enjoy it.

On another note, I was able to sit down with a recruiter who went through RS, but ultimately failed out due to the inability to swim. He said he wanted to go back as soon as he learned how to swim, I thought that knowing how to swim would be a prerequisite. He also said that if I have the opportunity to do any other schools like AA, and Mountain Warfare that I should do those before Airborne because I would be given the chance for Airborne around BOLC? I don't care about badges I just want to get as much good training in before I go to RS and I will already be losing my first summer due to attending BCT and AIT. I just want to have a plan laid out so I have and idea of what I might be looking at. I'm looking for some guidance here Rangers. Thank you.

Your recruiter has not been "through" RS. His inability to swim would have him knocked out by 0800hrs day one.

Another fine example of:

You know how to tell if a recruiter is lying?

Their lips are moving.
