I have a question for you gentlemen if you have a moment to spare.
I'm filling out a security clearance form, and it seems to be concerned with past bills and such. I currently have a $150 phone bill in collections (poor college student). I ship 20090902, and I expect my first payday will be 20091001. With that pay, I plan on clearing the $150 phone bill, as well as some other bills and payments.
Will this interfere with obtaining a secret clearance? I won't be finishing basic until 20091116, and AIT until 20100402, and airborne until 20100423 (68W/Opt 40)... if everything is cleared by this October, will it be a non-issue by the time they consider me for RIP and the clearance?
Thanks for the time.

Re: Secret clearance and collections
Here's the long and short of it. You should list the debt accurately when filling out EPSQ or EQIP and continue with your plan. If you require a follow up interview then you can provide proof of payment during the interview. HONESTY IS ALWAYS THE BEST POLICY!

Many thanks, Ranger Silverback. I'll tell my recruiter the same.
