Introduction

Post by frmrcatamount »

I am an 11B who took a brief detour as an 11C.

I spent the majority of my active duty time in B. Co. 4/87 INF, 25th ID. I was fortunate enough to serve under (then) CPT D. Haight (from 2/75) and (then) LTC D. Anderson, as well as learn from some excellent NCO's, Ranger and otherwise. It was a good unit to be as a young private, with a lot of opportunities to learn and improve one's self.

After 4/87 was shut down as part of the Clinton-era drawdown, I finished my active duty time in 1/27 INF. I went into the Guard and somehow ended up as an 11C in a cav unit, which was a mistake, but I suppose good experience.

I have now corrected that mistake and I am in C Trp. (LRS) 1-158 CAV, Maryland National Guard, where I have resumed jumping out of perfectly good aircraft and generally sneaking around like the light infantryman I am. I may not be as young as I once was, but nevertheless I am slotted for Sniper school in the spring and RSLC next fall. I look forward to the challenge.

Yes, I was in the First City Troop. I suppose officially I still am, as a non-active trooper.

I have to confess, not the first question I expected on ArmyRanger.com.

The First Troop Philadelphia City Cavalry is a unique organization, to say the least.
