Introduction - Michael
Name: Michael W.
DOB: 12/28/1983
Employer: Lockheed Martin
Occupation: IT services
College Degree: Criminal Justice with a minor in computer science (9 credits short of 2nd bachelors in computer science)
Current Height/Weight: 5`8, 170lbs
University attended: Shepherd University (West Virginia, played Lacrosse and also triple A hockey out of Richmond Virginia)
I have come to this board in search for information to better prepare myself for the military. I have always wanted to join the military to be a solider, I think in a way MMA for the past 2years has been that avenue for me, in a way I think I was scared to lose life as I know it. But as of late I have decided to chase my dreams, to put aside the life I have been awarded thus far and become a solider and military willing an Army Ranger.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post and one day I hope to be apart of the elite family of the Army Rangers.

Re: Introduction - Michael
Michael, a man has only one opportunity to make a favorable initial impression. So far you are doing well . I see you live in the Northern Virginia area. Would I be correct in assuming that you work in the DC area? Also, you need to modify your name if Michael Wxxxxx is your correct name -- we practice OPSEC. if you want to earn a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you came to the right site. We take pride in the quality of young men, like yourself, that we assist as they make their journey through life. First off, please self-administer a PT test and post your results to this thread. Please complete this task NLT Midnight, Sunday 5 July, 2009. Never, never quit!

Re: Introduction - Michael
I work in the Springfield,Virginia which is just south of DC. Results for the self-administered PT test will be posted before midnight of Sunday 5 July, 2009. I also have results from a self-administered PT test posted in the "About Army Physical Training" section of these forums as well as my current training schedule. I will continue to read up on the rules and in the future will not make the mistake of listing my entire name, thank you for the heads up admin and Jim.Jim wrote:Michael, a man has only one opportunity to make a favorable initial impression. Re: Introduction - Michael
Performed another self administered PT test today, tuesday/thursdays are my light days as I will only be running then training for 3hours at my MMA gym to complete the evening.
Scores:
1.5 mile time - 9minutes 31sec
Pushups (2min) - 71 (max for 100)
Situps (2min) - 78
500 meter swimming time - 8minutes 30sec (swam two 700 meters but only timed the 500, I will be timing my 1,000 meter swim here soon)
As I continue to improve my runnnig/swimming/rucking times I will be posting them here to help myself and the Rangers who are willing to suggest ways to improve on my ability's and further increase my chance at a great career with the Army and if my prayers are answered a chance to sign an option 40 contract.

Re: Introduction - Michael
Ranger Jim,
Thank you for taking the time to speak with me, speaking with someone like yourself who has been a Ranger and been through the life was a big motivation for me. I spoke with my recruiter as I informed you I was going to and he showed me the available MOS's for an option 40 those being Infantry, Cook and Truck Driver. I was a little concerned though as I continued to speak with the recruiter as he knew less about the process of a Ranger than I do. He seemed to not even realize that RIP existed, he stated I would attend Ranger School after Airbourne, so I think I may need to find another recruiter who can help me more. But anyways thank you for your time and I look forward to speaking with you again soon.

Re: Introduction - Michael
Rangers,
To make this short and to the point, after speaking with men like Ranger Jim and other active/former SF as well as reading tons of books, watching DvDs, and hours of research I have decided to take an Option 4 contract. I still want to be apart of the Ranger family but after speaking with men like Ranger Jim and doing the research I have decided to take a different route.
I want to earn my shot at Ranger Indoc/Ranger School or down the line Special Forces, I want to earn my chance to be apart of the Rangers not because a contract says I'm ready. This may be a decision that could restrict my chances of being apart of the Ranger family but I do feel that with my motivation I will secure a chance in the future and I will be among the best. I will continue to read these forums and soak up all information I can when available as my goal has not changed, the route to that goal as changed and I feel it is for the best.
