Welcome Rangers,

My name is Chris (Krzysztof). I am 27 years old and I am from Poland. I am a corporal of Polish Army in a reserve after 12 month Basic Military Service. My speciality is a squad leader of armoured infrantry (BMP-1 commander). I serve in 1998-1999.

I graduate high school and after military service I studied for three years a philosophie. But I quit and started a small webdesign company.

I would like to tell you that me and my friends appreciate your efforts in fighting for democracy. As maybe you know, Poland really hated communism and Russian domination in our region.

I am glad that at this time Polish soldiers fight on your side in Iraq and previously in Afganistan.

Big hooah for you, Rangers, and your mates from US Military Forces.

I am a big fun of Rangers, elite infrantry troops, who are everywhere, where USA needs fast, brave and professional warriors.

My greatest dream is to be a Ranger, at least infrantry soldier, but I am old and have a little chance to win a green card on lottery, so there are not big odds... But as Rangers, I will try and i will do my best to realize my dream.

Additionaly I would like to present my project, which i started few months ago. I took some military fans together and we built a Team Tactical, a kind of Ranger reconstruction group. But we do not wear Ranger's equipment. We operate in virtual world, where we try to learn Ranger's tactics and Ranger's way of thinking. We basing on some well known publicated materials, as FM's, Ranger's Handbook and some other volumes (for example, we learn form training movies and Full Spectrum Warrior game's tutorial).

My mates from the Team Tactical are very different, but they all seem to love military and all respect Rangers. There are, like me, ex-soldiers (one recon, and one, 37 old husbend and father, was a recon trained by Spetznaz members in USSR). There is one historian, few university and high school students. There are few of us, about fifteen, but still come new ones. At this moment, all of us are Poles, but we do not want to close for other nationalities. We want to grow and to show to other players how great is to try be realistic and use tactics from a real world. And we want to share our experiences.

I would like to know what you think about my innitiative. Is this a good idea, neutral for you or just stupid, because we will never learn from books? Or this is silly to train in virtual world (we use games: America's Army and Operation Flashpoint). As I know, in last years US Army and US Marines spends a lot of money to make military games for soldiers trainings and their free time (as AAO, VBS1, Full Spectrum Warrior).

Thank you for any answer.

Welcome, and please read the FAQ's. As for your project I will let the Rangers give you feed back because I have yet to serve, and do not know anything when it comes to tactics and such. Good luck with getting a Green Card, my Mom was a German citizen untill a year ago, it took them a few years to get all that worked out so she could become one, what I am saying is IF you are that seriouse about joining the Rangers or an Infantry unit, give it a few tries if you dont get it the first time, after all from what I have gatherd from this forum is that Rangers never give up untill the mission is completed.

Grey-
Welcome to the site and thanks for the compliments. As far as your question, I'm probably the last one who should comment on it, as I don't play computer games. I can't imagine that they could replace live training exercises, however I'm sure that researching the military manuals and practicing tactics in the cyber-world is better than nothing. Good luck with your green card.

Thank you, Ranger EarthPig. They can't of course. At this time I play paintball for some fun, few of my mates play ASG, but there is less place for tactics. So we meet together in, like you said, cyber world. I really would like to train tactics in real world, but it is difficult if you are not a military. I am looking for some military group, who train in terrain, but no luck yet.

blacksrt4, as I know, I can join the Army only during next two years. Later I will be to old. So I have to tries ahead on lottery. And as I see on this forum, if there is a chance to be a infrantry or paratrooper, there is no for being a Ranger. I should graduate with high scores, probably in American high school. And, additionaly, there are some security procedures, which I could not pass because I am a foreigner. Or am I wrong?

Where to start? If you are currently a corporal you might be able to request a slot at Ranger School and get it. We train many foreigners in that school.

You can join the Army up to the age of 35. However, you must get citizenship to stay. Get in touch with a recruiter to get this one clarified. I served with a man from England and one from Vietnam. So it isn't impossible.

If you're physically capable, meaning you can score extremely high on the PT test then age has nothing to do with high speed units.

You have a lot of questions and it seems like your game plan hasn't been layed out yet. If you're serious about serving in a Ranger unit, then get with a recruiter. Baby steps. You'll get there. Go to the recruiting forum and ask SFC hit_it about the steps it would take to get into the US Army as a foreigner.

Welcome to the board.

Damn, how could I forget this one? My platoon sergeant was from Canada. Look up Purdy using the search button.

No, Ranger Silverback. If I would, I would look there:

I know some aikido, kyokushin, judo, brasilian jujitsu techniques and I think it is enough :)
