Shooting suspect has 'long history' with neo-Nazis

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The suspect in Wednesday's fatal shooting at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum is James von Brunn, an 88-year-old white supremacist from Maryland, two law enforcement officials told CNN.

Von Brunn served six years in prison on federal attempted kidnapping, assault and firearms charges after what he called a "legal, nonviolent citizens arrest" of members of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.

A museum security guard was killed in Wednesday afternoon's shooting, sources told CNN. The suspect was wounded and is in critical condition, sources said.

RIP security officer Stephen Johns.
He died defending his post against a armed assault. His actions and the actions of the other guards saved many lives.

The shooter is known by the government and they have been checking up on him for years.
I went to the museum a few years back and was shocked to see this on cnn.

They said the officer was even kind enough to open the door for this man before he was shot.

psouper, I agree with your fustration on what American media airs frequently versus other stories that should get more air time, depends on the agendas of the special interest groups with deep pockets, what news is going to sell more, etc., sometimes it just plain stinks Jenny

Actually the media gave that story plenty of attention until this shooting happened. Now the media is piecing both shootings into the bigger picture of homegrown terrorism.
