Introduction - James

Post by Granite »

Hello, my name is James. I am 17 (turning 18 next month) and will be finishing school in 3 weeks. I live in Europe due to my father's career and have been educated in systems other than the American one, doing well in my classes and picking up a second language along the way plus some of a third. Now that school is almost over I am looking at the option of enlistment. I have started working on my PT scores however, until this point I have been hindered by medical complications (cancer) and school. I understand that AR40-501 doesn't support the previous illness, however a recruiter I have been communicating with has indicated that my case sounds worthy of a waiver (although I have to have that "professionally appraised" when I get stateside this summer) e.g. remission was long enough ago, off all medication etc.

My main hindrance at this point is my PT which make for terrible scores (which I am positive any Ranger's grandparent could beat  )

Push-ups (2 mins): 28
Sit-ups (2 mins): 74
2-mile run: 15 mins 23 secs

I have come here to learn more about the Ranger path, as I am interested in the possibility of an option 40 contract if I am medically cleared to serve (and boost the PT).

NOTE: In updating my avatar I could not find a "newts" gallery and therefore preemptively selected one from the "DEPs" gallery as other newts had been indicated to do. If this is out of line I shall rectify immediately.
