I have a question about land navigation

Post by Narrow Gauge RR »

Rangers, I was wondering if you have any advice on setting up a practice course for land navigation. I have access to swamp land, and hill country to practice in and would like to start working on compass navigation this summer before I enlist. I appreciate any help.

Don't worry about it. Just do PT.

Ranger's thank you both for the advice. I'm already pretty good at finding my way in the woods...I use topo maps for duckhunting in flooded woods and it's not unusual for us to make a mile or better walk through flooded timber carrying 50 pounds or more of gear. I used to just use a compass but have started using a GPS the last year or so.
