Welcome to the site. Please tell us a little more about yourself. What is driving you to become an Airborne Ranger?

Thank you Ranger Bravo57 for the welcome. I had wanted to join 20 years ago, but I did not have my life together at that time. Then throw in getting married, having a child and then divorce. It took me some time to get my priorities in order. I want to be able to serve my country, and I feel if you are going to do something you better do it to the best of your ability. I quit smoking and drinking about 9 years ago, I am not in shape like I used to be, but that can be remedied. No drugs or medical issues, no run ins with the law either, 20/20 vision. If I am going to join, it is going to have to be soon. Time is running out for me.

Ranger JLTW!!! thanks for your response. I would rather be an infantryman. I am still reading as much as I can on this forum and still trying to figure everything out. I am still in a planning stage for the military. My biggest concern about all of this is that my worthless ex-wife has custody of my child, and the effect of my being gone for so long would have on my child.

Welcome and thanks for your interest in Army Rangers. If you are physically fit, you should have no problems, except for maybe taking orders from men about half your age. You should probably start talking with a recruiter and go through the process to see if you meet all the requirements. That way you'll know what your options are and can make a more informed decision.

I will be talking to a recruiter this week. I am starting to do some PT, but I know I need to step it up to start seeing some results. Thanks again to all who responded.

I am taking the ASVAB this week. I talked to a recruiter, and took the practice test and did well on it. I do have an issue that may or may not resolve itself. My wife is not very happy with my decision and does not understand why, at my age, I would opt to join the Army.

Thanks Tim. I did take my ASVAB last night. I did very well. I still have to convince the wife about joining.
