Rangers, I contacted my recruiter today and told him I would like to renegotiate my contract. He is complying and will be setting me up a MEPS date. I'll update everyone more as I find things out.

Rangers, I went back to MEPS today and finished my contract which now includes Option 40. So in summary, my final contract is 11X/ABN/Opt. 40 with an 18k signing bonus (I didn't lose it), and I leave 20090624.

Thanks to everyone, and especially Ranger Disinfertention. Without the advice he gave me here and in PMs I would have simply kept my 11X/ABN contract, but his words convinced me to report back to MEPS knowing the risks of renegotiating my contract. It all worked out.

Thanks again everyone, I'll get to the P.T. now.

Now that that's resolved, please tell us what you are doing to cut about a minute from your two-mile time.

Ranger Jim: I have been running every day now and haven't missed a day in the last... 11 days. Some days I'm running twice. I'm leaving for Florida tonight and will get back the day before Easter. On that Monday I'll be starting a new program until I leave which happens to include 13 runs each week. Some are long jogs, others are faster-than-my-normal-pace mile runs or so, and two a week are sprint workouts. I'll also be doing military-style PT every morning and evening Monday-Friday, as well as once on Saturday. There's also other things to do with lifting mixed in with this, but as for the running I'll be taking care of it with those 13 runs.

I'm also signing up for a 5k May 2nd to pressure me a little harder to get my running down.

It's no longer a buyers' market. USAREC is making mission earlier in the year due to the economy sucking Barrama balls. Take Ranger Dis' advice and execute swiftly. Recruiters are spitting the taste of ass out of their mouth now and they're not in the mood to hand out puppies and hugs anymore.
