I can't see ho it would hurt in any way. The good thing about it, is that you would know if in fact you meet the qualifications for a Ranger contract, and you wouldn't be under any pressure to make a decision.

ok, yeah, I'm just a mom so terribly uninformed for your purposes. My question is doesn't your high school give the asvab test? My son took his in school. My second question is, as a junior, are you still 17? That could explain why he wants to take you twice because you can't enlist at 17 without your parents signature. Once you enlist, utilize your future soldier's program, there are promotions you can achieve before shipping. Gives you a leg up on being physically ready and that much more prepared for OSUT. Best of luck young man!! God bless.

Sorry I haven't been on much, but I will add one more thing.

You should explain to your mom, that the days of the military being any kind of lastb resort are long gone. I'm sure the parents here do not think their children were lost cases, no matter what their initial feeling to them joining was.

You should tell you mother that this is in fact your plan, and that if she is not agreeable to it now, then you will just do it when you are 18. She does need to realize that you have to live your own life.

You can't make people change their mind everytime, unfortunately.
