I am home now after spending yesterday at the Houston MEPS doing all the related things that go along with taking a physical. I was fully prepared to grab my paperwork and walk out if the Liaison said Option 40 was not available, after having spent a great deal of 3 hours waiting outside in the hall (it was packed). Needless to say, he asked what I wanted and I got it. Before I knew it I heard "Is Feb 5th good for you?" hmm PERFECT sign me up!
So that's it, I'm shipping out 11X Option 40, 20090205 for basic and I can't wait. Thanks guys for providing all the information needed to help guide us along through our journey to become US Army Rangers. My journey has just begun.

You don't have much time at all. I hope you are in some kind of decent shape. Congrats on the contract.

I'm going to be honest and say I'm not in GREAT physical shape. Currently can run a mile in 8 minutes, can do about 35-40 push ups without stopping in less than 2 minutes, and about 50-60 with situps. I plan to talk to my recruiter tomorrow, who has passed RIP but got orders to recruit before he got sent to RS, about helping all he can physically before I go. I also handed my last pack of cigarettes to a friend after a good night of drinking last night so that's it for me so I can get some daily runs in without feeling like lungs are going to explode
.
As of right now, I know I have the motivation to do what is needed of me and quitting will not be an option. Of course I sound rough and tough now but no matter what I'm going to push my way through physically and mentally.
Any other thoughts or suggestions?

I'm pretty sure he meant Pre-Ranger. The big Army has a tendency to refer to that course as RIP for some reason.

You only have a couple of weeks, so tie up your loose ends at home. And do not go crazy with PT at this point, like running till you drop, or running five miles, that kind of thing. The last thing you need is get get a case of shin splints before you ship. The Army will get you in better shape during OSUT. Read the about OSUT and letters from school forums to help get mentally prepared.
