Disqualified from Opt 40?

Post by 1171 »

Rangers,

I did a search on PULHES and did not find what I was looking for. I spoke with my recruiter today regarding an Option 40, and he says I am disqualified. I have a "2" in my hearing, and currently a 0 in vision. The vision is being resolved, I had LASIK earlier in the year so they have to wait some 6 month time limit before they will examine my eyes, they are now 20/20, so I am confident that will be a 1. He says I am still qualified for the 11B Airborne contract I originally intended to sign for. Now, according to him, my best chance at RIP is to hope someone drops a contract at Benning and attempt to snatch up there. Also, I understand that you can volunteer for RIP at the end of ABN training.

My question is, even with that 2, can I still pickup someone's dropped contract, or volunteer at Airborne School? I intend to see if there is a waiver, or even a retest for hearing I can get done.

I am not so sure you are DQ.

When you go to MEPS, if you require a medical waiver for the hearing then yes, you probably are. If you are, then you will be DQ from ABN as well.

Wait, and keep providing more info as the situation develops.
