Introduction

Post by toughkid »

Hello Rangers! My name is Andrew. I am 20 years old and i have completed two years of college. I am currently working in a factory making toilets, and I know I don't want to do this for the rest of my life. I want to be a RANGER!

I have always had the highest respect for Rangers and I have a dream of soon becoming one of those who leads the way. I am currently in some small legal trouble, (damn booze). They are only misdemeanors, but it seems that once I inform a recruiter about my situation they tend to tell me to get back with them once I'm off my probation. Thankfully I'll be free soon! My plans are to join at the end of this summer. Thank you to all who have posted the helpful information on here. I've learned more on this site than anywhere else.

Thank you Ranger Andy. I definitely have the drinking in control now. I haven't had a drink since I got in to trouble in august. I'm just still facing my consequences. The hardest part is having to wait even longer now to join. I'm doing my best to now to keep myself out of trouble so I can reach my goal. Thank you again Ranger Andy.

Somewhere on this Ranger blog is something called "About Army Physical Training". Check it out and while you're waiting to get into the Army, spend your time getting ready for what you are about to get involved in. If you don't have your head screwed on right about becoming a Ranger, you might as well go back to drinking...

Ranger Andy. I read the section about Army Ranger Physical Training, and it was helpful. I definitely want to do this! I'm gonna do what it takes and make the changes necessary to achieve my goal. I'll be speaking with a recruiter later this week about my options. Thanks for the help. I'll post an update

Hello Rangers. I took my ASVAB last night at MEPS in columbus. I scored an 80 so I'm pretty pumped about it. I'm working with my recruiter and my attorney now to get my legal situation taken care of so i can get in sooner. I'll post more updates when i find out more information. Until then, I'll be making crappers! Thanks for the support.

Quit smoking and hanging around strippers. Leave something fun for after Ranger School. Do Rangers still get a 9 day pass to get their heads straight and learn to eat again?

Hello again Rangers. Earlier I said that I planed on joining the army at the end of the summer, but I was lucky enough to have my charges dropped and things fell into place a little sooner. I've been waiting to take my physical at MEPS, there's been some delays from paperwork. Hopefully I'll be able to take my physical this week! After that I have to wait to receive a waiver since the charge was alcohol related. He estimates that I can enlist about a week after the physical. My recruiter told me that if I am not able to get the Ranger contract that I should just go Airborne. He says that at the end of Airborne training Rangers come ask for volunteers to go to RIP. Is this true? or should I keep pushing to make sure I get option 40? I've read on here that it's hard to get a spot in Ranger training if its not in our contract. I don't want to do something thats gonna make it harder to get that spot.

I think you've answered your own question here.
JLTW is right. If its not in writing you don't have it. Use your best poker face and tell them if you don't get what you want you're walking. There is also a recruitment section on this site that answers some of these questions.
