Sure. Then you'll do anything to make sure you make through OSUT. Then you'll do anything to make it through ABN. Etc, etc, etc..Notice the reaction you've generated by most who've commented, and ask yourself why that is. Read the Ranger Creed and tell us which stanza permits your actions.

We Rangers consider a position within our beloved Regiment, is a position of honor. If you cannot achieve it with honor, you cannot bear it with honor.

All I want to know is that you're while your striving for your own greater glory (and trying to get your head out of your ass) is that you're going to take care of this girl and your soon to be born child. Being a Ranger is irrelevant to the overriding existential truth of being a Father.

Good luck Son! Please take care of the girl and the child and the rest will work itself out.

Sonny boy,

Ya missed the whole point of my post. You found a possible slight to your ego and let that burn your ass when you could've found some sage advice and worked on that for the greater good.

I wish you much luck because you're gonna need all the luck you can get!

Oh and if you do get to a Ranger line unit (or any line unit), be nicer to the medics, or you'll find that you're shot records will indicate that you need a whole lotta shots!

So you signed an enlistment contract that did not state "Airborne" and "Ranger" and now you are upset you are not getting them? That is strike two and the first one was not taking proper care to avoid the bun in the oven. Do you see a pattern here? At this point your only chance at being a Ranger is to be the best man in your company during OSUT and hope that some BAC and RIP slots open up.

I must concur with PantherSix's assessment of the situation, and agree with his conclusion that you indeed seem to have your head completely up your ass.

You say that you want better housing? Better than what? Are you living in a cave now? You would have to marry this girl in order to be able to get post housing, and even then there might be a waiting list. I have a friend who had to live in a trailer in the camping area at Ft Benning, and he finally had to buy a house. Don't assume it is going to be automatic.

And as far as promotions for pay? You are the only one who will be responsible for getting promoted, no matter where you are assigned. If you show them you are capable and deserving of additional rank, then you will get promoted. It may come a little faster in the Regiment, but you will earn every penny. Again, it will not be as automatic as you may think. Being in the Ranger Regiment is hard even on the strongest of marriages, and the odds are already against you. Every couple I know, and I do mean every one, that has gotten married for the sake of a child has ended in divorce, usually bitter.

You have to do what is right by the child and the mother. Assuming it is yours. Are you sure? I would insist on getting an in utero paternity test if I were you. (and I have been you..) You may be getting hoodwinked because girly wants a house without wheels for the first time and sees you as a meal ticket.. You wouldn't be the first one to fall for this (or the last).

I would say get that done post haste, then deal with the rest.

I embarrassed myself with this post. It's so easy to be an internet fucktard! Very much like becoming a hatchet-4 after making E4 in Bn!

I do wish you the best Son, you've dug a deep hole, but you can get out if it if you do the right thing. Follow Sleepdoc's advice and just put one foot in front of the other until you've corrected the situation and are on the way to becoming the man you want to be.

But you can't be a real man if you knock up women and then leave your kids behind you to grow up on their own. Fix that situation and then the opportunity to become a Ranger may just open up for ya!

Let me add a little clarification also because I didn't realize you are shipping in less than a month.

If you are around when the child is born, great. If not, get the test done as soon as you can. If you mention having the test done to your girlfriend and she starts getting pissed off, as if you question whether it is your child, I would be highly suspect of her. This is coming from first-hand experience being in your situation. Tell her that in order for the baby to receive benefits paternity must be established if you aren't married when the baby is born. This is 100% true.

As far as marrying your girlfriend, that is entirely your decision, however I would not do it under any circumstances until paternity is established. Don't sign the birth certificate until it is proven that the child is yours.

If it turns out that it is your child, the best thing you can do is man up and make sure the baby is taken care of. Again, if you feel that getting married is the best way to do that, by all means do. So you didn't wrap it when you should have. You can't go back and change that.

You say you want to be a Ranger, right? Well part of being one is having some integrity and that means doing the right thing even when no one is watching. If you do get married and it's your kid, best of luck to you. I hope that you are the 1% that beats the odds, but no matter what, make sure that child is taken care of. This is an expensive and harsh lesson to learn, but you can make the best of it. Believe me, I know. Just make sure you are protecting your interest also.

Good luck with it.

You guys actually think this kid has even researched ANYTHING about being a Ranger? Based on ALL his posts I would think not..........

It’s nice to welcome DEPS with potential and help them get there but................. I'll stick with "fucktard" and encourage Bun Boy to prove me wrong.
LOL! Thanks for making me laugh out loud at work!
