Introduction.
Greetings!
My name is Aaron. I am currently 18, and a High School Graduate.
Currently, I am waiting to ship to BCT. I Leave 01062008. I joined the Reserves, for all the wrong reasons. I joined to better suit my family, my friends, and my girl. And while I'm kickin' myself in the face for that, I have not given up on being a Ranger.
As "luck" would have it, my Reserve Unit is the 346th Psyocological Operations, and is (ABN) and (TAC). The unit is also a pretty " hoo-ah hoo-ah" unit. They have Ranger tabbed individuals, people in the process of leaving the unit for SF oppourtunities, and a few guys are prepping to leave the unit in order to go to RIP. So my dreams are still very much within reach. I will never give up.
From what I was told, by a SPC in the unit, they'll push you as hard as you want to be pushed, be it in the unit or not. The MEPS recruiter has a friend who did the same thing I did, and went on to becoming a Ranger (unsure of the name of said Ranger.)
And to wrap up a very long introduction, that got a little off base here's the short summery of my writing/thoughts.
Currently Persuing 37F.
I'm going to learn as much as I can from them, and then with their permission and blessing I plan to achieve my dream of becoming a Ranger.
My reason for being here it to be a sponge. To absorb all I can to better prepare myself and motivate myself more vigourously to achieve my dream.
It's an honor to have a chance to do just that, absorb wisdom from great men like yourselves.
Thank you.

Welcome. It comes across that you feel you made a mistake in joining the Reserves and feel you should have enlisted with an active duty Ranger contract. Did you join the Reserves in the Delayed Entry Program?
WE NEED MORE RANGERS!

I joined the Reserves, not in the DEP, but thinking that I could still have a great chance at RIP after a few years to settle in and such. But having NOW read that it's more of a pain than and ease, I wish I hadn't. Not that I'll be terribly dissapointed with 37F, but just that I'd rather push for Ranger. At this point, I'm fixed on working through it, and jumping through any flaming loops I have to later on. To my knowledge, there's no way I can RENO my contract -PRE BCT.Ranger Bill wrote:Welcome. Very true, I'm heading to Fort Knox for an ARMY PR thing tomorrow. Two Car trips with recruiters. Perhaps I can squeeze out a "maybe" and politely push for that. My personal recruiter's a bit, unwilling to play around with MEPS.JLTW!!! wrote:Have you tried??? You will NEVER know, unless you try youngster.
