Intro. I'm all ears

Post by Ryan - banned »

Hi all, my name is Ryan. I am 17 turning 18 in less than a month. I am a senior in high school. I have read alot and studied the Special Forces as long as I can remember. It has always been my personal goal to become a Ranger. I am aware that there is much more to it then just reading and working out. But I am a determined individual and I have set my mind to becoming some kind of Special Forces. But I realize that I must take it one step at a time and im not even enlisted yet. I look forward to getting to know everyone here better and to take as much advise as possible. I would love to hear from anyone that has anything helpful to say. And if anyone wants to explain how to get mentored on this site I would like to know how that works.

About time you made it to the intro section. Since you didnt have much luck with GSXRanger, I suggest you PM Scuba Wino. He has been looking for a "leadership challenge" as a mentee. Good luck.

Welcome to the site, Ryan!

Make sure you understanding that Special Forces is not a Ranger. There may be SF guys who are Ranger QUALIFIED (earning the Ranger Tab), or there may be guys who came from a Ranger battalion that are now SF. The term you are looking for is Special Operations, in which Special Forces AND Army Rangers fall under.

Good luck and theres plenty of people around to help!

Go talk to your recruiter, get involved in the Delayed Entry Program (DEP).

Well, Ryan, I guess it's time for me to point out that a man has only one opportunity to make a favorable initial impression. So far, you are not doing well. Please allow me to make a couple observations: First, if you truly wish to earn yourself a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you came to the right site. We take particular pride in the number of fine young men we have assisted in their journey. Second, I notice that the DEPs have contacted you; you'll find that they will provide you with considerable insight on how this site works. You are a guest here in armyranger.com -- please do not abuse our hospitality. I expect you to read all the FAQs, as well as selected stickies and threads. Please use proper spelling and punctuation. Now before we go further, please self-administer a PT test and post your results here. Never, never quit!

Yep, this is another good example of what not to do.
