A top Russian general said Friday that Poland's agreement to accept a U.S. missile interceptor base exposes the ex-communist nation to attack, possibly by nuclear weapons, the Interfax news agency reported.

WWOD ?
"Poland, by deploying (the system) is exposing itself to a strike — 100 percent," Nogovitsyn, the deputy chief of staff, was quoted as saying.

I see it different. I have a feeling that China & Russia are really partners in crime and have the same goals and objectives in mind.TC204 wrote:I'm sure Obama's script writer is coming up with something regarding this story... If there's one positive, it's the American people watching how these two candidates present themselves during these times. McCain cool and collect speaking from the heart, and Obama's broken sentences because he didn't rehearse the script well enough.
The Russians are talking extreme measures here, they're govt and military leaders border on demented. Which is nothing new.
I really expect to see China distance themselves from Moscow fairly soon. They've been very quiet through this whole ordeal.

From July 22, US general warns Russia on nuclear bombers in Cuba
Russia would cross "a red line for the United States of America" if it were to base nuclear capable bombers in Cuba, a top US air force officer warned on Tuesday.
"If they did I think we should stand strong and indicate that is something that crosses a threshold, crosses a red line for the United States of America," said General Norton Schwartz, nominated to be the air force's chief of staff.
He was referring to a Russian news report that said the military is thinking of flying long-range bombers to Cuba on a regular basis.

I've once heard that the Russian culture as a whole has an inferiority complex. They talk big because they feel they have to. They see what others build and try make something bigger or more powerful (their quality control has typically been crap, thankfully). This does not negate Russia's danger potential, but it does mean we should expect aggressive talk.RTO wrote:I see it different. Now Georgia...well, they're essentially fucked. They've been in and out of the Russian empire (lowercase intended) since the late 1700's. They are a small country next to 2 other small countries. The nearest country of any defendable size (Turkey), has long had designs on taking the Caucus for themselves.
China couldn't care less what Russia (or most of the rest of the world) does as long as their cashflow (and resource-flow) is maintained. China also is very patient. They will save money and resources until they feel they are safe to go on a conquering binge. By "patient", I mean patient enough that whatever is being prepared for won't neccessarily be accomplished during the preparer's lifetime.
I personally do not think China and Russia are partners in crime, however, I do think that both are criminals who couldn't give a rat's ass about what the other does, so long as one doesn't step in the other's territory.
