He has been called Mister D-Day by fellow veterans.
Leonard G. "Bud" Lomell, 88, of Toms River, is a highly decorated former United States Army Ranger who served in World War II. He is a recipient of the Silver Star for his actions at Castle Hill, Germany, was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his heroism on D-Day, June 6, 1944, and has received numerous awards and accolades for gallantry.
