There are 435 living Rangers of all 6 Bns serving in WWII.
With replacements, it is estimated that 7000 men served as Rangers in WWII

Of those 435, there are 175 Darby Rangers (1st, 3rd, & 4th Bns)
Of these 175, there are 49 Darby Original 1st Bn. Rangers.

The Darby Originals meet annually in Iowa. This is the most active Chapter in the country. Last year saw an attendance of 30 Darby Original Rangers.

(I maintain their roster)
Good for you. I am sure it is rewarding helping them out and having the exposure to them. Last Saturday afternoon I spent several moments with tears running down my cheeks, in front of the Point Du Hoc display in the D Day museum in New Orleans. Pretty sobering!!

Rest in Peace Ranger Twigg.

He volunteered to be a Ranger when it was nothing more than a concept in someone's mind as to what the capabilities of a Ranger would be. Darby's Rangers made the mold that the rest of us have aspired to fit into to.
