I say more power to him, and I think more Christians should get off their panzy asses and get out of their church pews and do the same.
I agree with the 'message' of John 3:16 but don't necessisarily agree with this young mans delivery method. I think under the circumstances there may be other more effective methods of delivering the message. But at least he did something , and I for one give him props for that.
The boy wants to do it in uniform?
Now that is a whole different ball park.
I think he deserves disipline and the punisment should be swift and severe if he has violated any part of the UCMJ by passing out the religious coins.
Likewise, I also hope his reward in Heaven is great.
The military Directive is no one is to try to convert the locals......
His job is too close with and distroy the enemy. Not issue religious medalions.......If he wants to do that then join a missionary group. He is wrong.....and he has placede his fellow Americans in more danger by being wrong....
I agree. There is also something in the bible about being under submission to your government and authorities, even if you don't agree with them. If indeed it was made clear to this young man not to convert the locals, he shouldn't have done it and needs to have the full weight of the UCMJ against him.
If he feels this strongly about his religion, the military is not the place for him, unless he wants to get out and go to religious school and come back in as a Military Chaplain.
If he's an idiot as a soldier....what the fuck do we want with an idiot fucking Chaplain?

I'm with you Brother!
I'm all for carving Jesus Loves You on a cricket bat and bludgeoning the Almighty into them.
Fucking Hindus...
Already been done! :D
If I remember the story correctly, Sampson in the Old Testament book of Judges used something similar, an ox bone (I believe it was) and killed about 1,000 Palastinians by bludgeon.

Only Chaplains I've ever met worth more than a wooden nickel also wore the Ranger Tab. Far as I'm concerned, it made them better Christians. At the least, it made them better able to relate to Soldiers.

That Marine is a fucking retard for what he did. The big selling point with AQI and all the other groups is that the Americans are in Iraq trying to convert the population to Christianity. To them, it's a terrifying thought. Plus, you average Iraqi is a mental pygmy. generations, millienia, etc. of marrying within their own family has left these people on the outskirts of both sanity and smarts. These people are batshit crazy and fucking retards on top of it. So this Marines actions will have tremendous reverberations throughout the area. If you want to spread your religon while serving in Iraq, don't. There are enough problems without some self-centered cunt trying to prove his moral authority. Asshole.

It's not that I'm lazy........it's that I don't care
Regrettably more convert to Islam today than to Christianity. Also if you still believe that a Muslim country is or can be a democracy well that’s your problem but one thing is for sure and that is that actions like what this Marine did could destroy years of work to at least attempt at bringing some sort of democracy in Iraq. Remember that in the end the power of the Mullah can bring down government. AND THAT WILL NEVER CHANGE as long as Islam exists.
My opinion is that what the Marine did should be at least reason for a field grade article 15 if not worst. The danger of starting a war again where there is peace is too great.
So if this action goes not punished then the people that shouted that the west is at war with Islam are correct. That is the other side of the coin.
To stay the course means just that and not to bring other agendas into the GWOT. Can this action stigmatize the Marine Corps into using religion as a weapon? Or even worst can the Marine Corps be called “Christian missionariesâ€

Also remember that our country has a Constitution and freedom of religion was one of the initial reasons that we declared independence.
Their country doesn’t have freedom of religion in the same sense as we do. In fact most of them don’t even want it. They mostly wanted to get away from a dictatorship.

Somewhat related, in Dearborn Michigan - where one of the largest mid-east populations in this country has gathered - the high school wrestling coach of 35 years was fired becasue he had an assistant coach for 10 years who was a Cristian preacher. Once, not during school hours or on school property, the preacher talked to a Muslim youth about Christianity. The high school is 95% Arab. The community went into an uproar and demanded the coach and the assistant be fired and they were. In America. A visit to Dearborn is like going to a foreign country.
You know....Im always amazed at outrage like this. So what he handed out coins? BFD. And so what the locals get outraged. Another BFD. And Dearborn, Michigan....fuck that whole town. State for that matter. Hope Rich Rodriquez drives off a bridge because he got black fly's in his eyes.
That is all.
