Some of the points of this program elude me.Jim wrote: Nunes’s Hubbard Act will provide continued benefits for any member of the armed forces who decides to leave the military after losing a family member. Specifically, it guarantees unemployment compensation, as well as payment for transitional healthcare and commissary and exchange benefits, as well as veterans’ benefits. These benefits would apply even if the soldier had not completed the years of service as agreed upon at enlistment.
In addition, these soldiers would not be forced to repay any portion of their enlistment bonus and may participate in the GI bill’s education benefits.
1. Unemployment compensation is a state matter,
2. The GI bill is based off of the money you put into it during your service
3. Enlistment bonuses are paid with the intent of you finishing your contractual obligation.
This young man made a choice (as was his right). Now it seems he has found a sympathetic ear(s) to try and recoup some of the benefits he KNOWINGLY forfeited by his election to terminate his service prematurely.
I don't get it.
Wait...I am supposed to say something bad about Hollywood aren't I?

I just get sick and fucking tired of Joe's continually asking for an "Exception to policy". What sickens me more is that each deal like this isn't done for the good of the individual, it's a larger plan plan of the liberals to keep pushing the "They aren't caring for our Soldiers" message.
Truth be told, it's a shame he lost his Brothers and I do honor his family's sacrifice, but you know as well as I do that before that kid separated from the Army he got told at least ten times about the stuff he was going to give up (benefits).

We would enlarge the numbers of non-deployable personnel. What good is a Soldier that can't do his job?Tater Nuts wrote:Why couldn't the "sole survivors" be reassigned to the 70% of the armed forces who aren't "in harm's way" and still serve and be eligible for benefits?
