DEP/11x Opt. 40 Secured

Post by neverquit »

Rangers, SFC hit it, and members,

After a long day at MEPS I could not be more excited at the prospect of being just a little bit closer to my goal.
It took 13 hours, but I was a 'gung-ho go' at every station, recieved a picket fence on my PULHES, and successfully secured my Ranger contract. I stood tall and proud when it came time to give the oath to the nation and swear into the Army.

Patience is definately a virtue at MEPS as much of the time was spent sitting around and waiting to see a Doc, Liason, etc. I brought along my Ranger Handbook to read while I waited.

The details of my contract are: 11x Opt. 40, with the G.I. Bill, and a $10,000 signup bonus. I have one more semester of college left before I ship, after which I would be eligible for an additional $5000.
My ship date is 20090108, which gives me plenty of time to prepare myself physically and mentally to drive on to the Ranger objective.

Thank you for all your advice, if it wasn't for this site, I would probably be stuck in ROTC right now instead of having a contract guaranteeing me a shot at making it into a Ranger battalion.

Congratulations! That time, while plenty to transform yourself into a PT stud, will slip away quicker than you think. Don't waste any of it.
