Roger Ranger Jim.
Got yet another little update for Rangers, QP's , Soldiers, and everyone else!
I'm going back up to MEPS for the 19th and 20th of February for a consultation with an Orthopedic Specialist, not one at MEPS. From what my Recruiter tells me, ill be seeing one for both of those days. Ill will report back after the Doc sees me.
Thanks
-Mike

You may want to ask what the physical limtiations are. If there are none or they are very limited then have the doc put them in writing and how your condition would not interfere with your service.
Also, when you finally overcome all of this you will now you have earned it, owned it and it is yours.

Update for Rangers, QP's , Soldiers, and everyone else!
Went up to MEPS this morning at 7, had my consult with an off-base Ortho Doc. Went back into MEPS & show the MEPS Doc what the Ortho Doc wrote. Came home at 2 o'clock. Got a call from my recruiter, he told me it was denied again.
But he was just kidding. The waiver was approved. Now all I need to do is pick a MOS.

Roger Rangers & Soldiers.
Thanks for all the kind words. I went down to see my Recruiter today, they have the thing where you can reserve a job right there in the office. As some may remember I had an 18x Contract about two years ago, and it was dropped due to medical reasons. That was before the age limit was raised to 21. Well since I'm not 21 yet I would figure that 18x for me is a no-go. Also since I once held an 18x contract, Ive been told, I would not be able to get one again. When my Recruiter pulled up a list of the "in demand" jobs I was qualified for 18x was at the top of the list. Does this sound right? Another thing, they now have a bonus where you can pick if you want $40,000 for starting a business or a down payment on your first home after your enlistment is up. I'm not in this for the money or anything I just thought it was interesting.

Take the $40k for a down payment on a home. Hands down the best choice you can make. Period.
As for 18X. If they offer it to you again and that is what you want then you should go for it. I think you'll pretty much do fine no matter where you end up.
Congratulations on persevering. You've shown great character over the course of these last couple of years and I wish you the best of luck.

TOES you've been here for a while now, and your determination is clearly an indication that you want it.
I recall a soldier I served with at 5th Inf Div who one day showed up at Regiment. He was in a COHORT unit back at Ft. Polk which meant at the time he could not leave his unit until he completed his first enlistment with that unit.
He walks in and we do the eye to eye, know that we've served together and I ask him, how in the fuck did you get out of your COHORT unit?
Answer: I kept buggin them until the SGM allowed me to go for it.
He was only about 5' 5" a 150 lbs at best. But I trained with him in Germany and knew he could do it.
Well he could only get Airborne school comin outta there but he knew once he got back to Benning he would have the "opportunity" to try to get a RIP slot, I pulled some strings that I barely had and we made it happen.
He almost got through RIP but fails his 15 mile road march test due to the silver dollar sized blisters on "both" of his heals. I get word from the RIP Instructors and I go over to chat with him knowing that he can do it.
Well he retested the very next day and made it. You won't get many chances at becoming a Ranger, but determination will always see you through.
You got what you wanted, now make sure you suck it up, PREPARE and make it happen stud.
Good luck to ya.
P.S. make sure you get every single enlistment bonus that's comin to you. For you sure as hell will earn it should you succeed.
