How Old?
I was just wondering how old all the Rangers on here were when they started RIP.

Nathan,
I was 17 when I enlisted in DEP back in Nov. 1983 (like the day after I turned 17), and finished my HS Diploma via an Adult Ed. program 2 weeks prior to shipping out for Basic in Feb. of 84. I was the youngest guy everywhere I went that year.
I imagine if you have your head screwed on straight, and take advantage of the mentoring available from the Rangers here, I expect you'll do okay.
Looking back now, I certainly could have benefitted from a little more gray in my beard back then. It took me a couple of years to really get squared away, I wasn't a fuckup, I just had a whole lot of growing up to do.
This board is a tremendous resource staffed and visited by a whole lot of BTDT-types, take advantage of it and you shall succeed.

Did you get lost on the way from ABN School to RIP? :Dh8train1/75 wrote:17 when I came into the Army, 19 when I went to RIP.

I signed up and went to basic at the age of 17. Turned 18 in AIT.Rangers I have a question, am I making a mistake by going in at 17? It seems like most people who go in are between 18 and 30. I haven't heard anyone say they were 17.
Nothing wrong with being 17... Just have to get your parents to sign off.
