Introduction

Post by gearjunky »

Howdy. Name Is Ryan E. I live in Michigan. I am in 9th grade (should be in 10th but got held back 8th grade). I am very Interstead In the Military. My uncle was in the army. My grampa was in the army. My grandma was in the army. My other grampa was in the usaf. I joined becasue I am thinking about being a Ranger medic. I really dont know for sure. I only really have 3 jobs i want to do. Well 4. USAF PJ, Ranger, British army, and WO for 160th soar. But i am on the swim team. I joined it to help get ready since all the jobs i want to do are hard. My uncle when i said i wanted to be a green beret said "go ranger there over there kicking ass while green berets are training people". Any ways just wondering if any of you guys want to tell me what it is like being a ranger? Thanks :)

QRT was here.

Welcome, thats quite a mouthful. You doing research is a good thing because we will expect you to research our forums and reap the wealth of knowledge contained here-in.

Ranger Bill is from you area as many other Rangers. He'll be along shortly. Do me one favor young man & captitalize the "R" every time you use the word Ranger.

One other item. How old are you? When I was in the 9th Grade I was but 12 going on 13.

No, I do not intend to make fun of you - rather I commend you on one hand and on another hand I will have to take away your ability to post until you reach the age of 16 - our minimum age we allow on this board. Which is why I asked you this question in the first place. When you reach your 16th Birthday you can PM me and I will activate your ability to make a post. In the meanwhile you can continue to read our boards/forums.

Is this not true with our goals and dreams?

Good luck and I hope too see you posting when you turn 16.

Take this the way it is intended, it's not to insult you.

your entries are somewhat sloppily written, and the fact that you were held back for 8th grade makes me wonder how smart you really are. if you want to be a medic, much less practice Special Operational medicine (Ranger medic, SF Medical Seargant, USAF PJ, SEAL medic) you will need to be fairly smart. I can't speak to the other services or SF, but just to be a Ranger, you need to score a 110 on your GT test. that's the same requirement to be an officer. Ranger privates should be at least as smart as Army officers. you will need a strong base of knowledge in the sciences and able to learn complex systems of the human body quickly, as well as retain the info, and later apply it.

there is a lot of science and math involved with being a good medic. use the time you have to aquire those skills.

and when you come back, show some respect to those who have earned it by capitalizing words like Ranger and PJ. we all respect and hold in high esteem PJs. they have kept some of us and our brothers alive.

just remember, "life is hard, it's harder when you're stupid." and "fat dumb and happy is no way to go through life".

get as much out of school as you can while you can. you'll use it the rest of your life.
