Turkish Army Sends Soldiers Into Iraq

Post by Chiron »

BAGHDAD (AP) — Turkey sent hundreds of troops across the border into the frigid mountains of northern Iraq on Tuesday, claiming it inflicted heavy losses on Turkish Kurd rebels in the small-scale incursion and from air strikes two days earlier.

The offensive puts more pressure on Washington to mediate between Iraq and Turkey, two key allies in an unstable region. In a sign of increasing tension, the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees reported that more than 1,800 people fled their homes in parts of Iraq's semiautonomous Kurdistan last weekend.

The theory is that the Turks will take some oil fields and that’s that. Cause for the next generation war for sure.

Now Ranger Ingraham sent this to me which is fact.

Last night on Greek TV they showed the Greek PM along with the madam secretary of state and their entourage in Moscow signing the final documents for the Bourgas to Alexandroupolis pipe line AND finalizing the sale of weapons. They confirmed the Russian APCs and left it open for future deals.

What does this have to do with the other? Well the Turks started making armed F-16 over flights of Greek islands and are using that for political maneuvering on the deal with Russia for oil.

Putin told the Greeks that he will not accept any kind of threats end of story.

God I hope the Russians NUKE the Turks.

The Turks as well as the Iranians have no desire to tolerate an independant Kurdistan. In the past the Kurds worked hard to ensure that the PKK did not use land in Iraq as bases for attacks on Turkey simply because they did not want to be punished by the Turks.

But denying the Kurds their long searched home land is something that will blow up in our faces one day. It becomes even worst than denying the Palestinians their land. It’s a mess that’s for sure. Till now the Turks and Saddam kept the Kurds in place using brute force and Amnesty International wouldn’t dare poke their nose in that. Today it’s another story. Allow me to have apprehensions in this issue….

The Turks allowed the Iraqis to use the Turkmen cheap labor knowing that in 40 or 50 years they will have a population in north Iraq and maybe get the oil. The Albanians did the same thing with the Serb home land and now the “worldâ€
