SF WLC/BNCOC done....
Pretty fucking sweet. Lot's of Army classes and PT. Hut competitions. our 1sg is the SF team sergeant from the national geographic documentary, so we got him good with skits.
For guys coming to the course, it just got changed and everybody goes to SOPC 2. It's mandatory because a tabbed officer failed patrols in SUT and bitched about not being able to go to the prep course. So it's basically Pre Ranger shit. I'm about to be knee deep in phase 2 on monday, and it's gonna be cold.

That is awesome. What kind of rucks did you use in SFAS?Timmy wrote:Pretty fucking sweet. Lot's of Army classes and PT. Hut competitions. our 1sg is the SF team sergeant from the national geographic documentary, so we got him good with skits.

Ranger Matador275 Rucks in SFAS are standard ALICE frame rucks. After SFAS you can modify your ALICE frame ruck however you want!Matador275 wrote:

Ranger Timmy congrats on making it this far, keep going at this pace and you are gonna smoke me through the course! Good luck!

Damn, this all seems a lot harder today than it was back in the stone age. All we had to do then was a PLF off a foot locker, eat a worm and mumble a phrase in the foreign langauge of your choice.
WE NEED MORE RANGERS!

Re: SF WLC/BNCOC done....
That applies loosely throughout the course. Depending on your Cadre at Stu Co you can take modified packs, and others will NOT let you. Most of the Phase II Cadre are completely fine with it as long as you can pack your kit so its not falling out of you pack. SERE is "mandatory" Army Issue pack, although if Cadre fail to tell a class that, they are allowed to go with modified gear. I learned the hard way when I converted my pack back to standard issue and showed up tp a SERE class that had fully modded shit because their cadre didn't give a shit...I got screwed depending on how you look at the situation...cback0220 wrote:Ranger Matador275 Rucks in SFAS are standard ALICE frame rucks. Unless you are a gear whore, a standard pack and frame will do EVERYTHING you need in this course. The only EXTRA gear that is worth paying for is a thick kidney pad and straps (Tactical Tailor here) although they are NOT needed other than comfort.

Done with SOPC 2. That shit sucked. no sleep and 1 MRE a day in the field. Ambush after Ambush after Ambush after Ambush........triple basic load during the first movement, 105 lb ruck with the radio in it, fucking heavy. Learned the different TACSOP really well though, and I can write a fucking manuever paragraph like you've never seen now.
They pretty much broke it off in everybody's ass, and no one was expecting it from what is supposed to be a 3 week prep for SUT. Lots of Ranger tabbed guys attended, and myself and a B CO 3-75 fella actually were in the same squad. Needless to say, our squad did the right thing, always made our hit times, never crossed the OBJ road, and we had the fewest negative spot reports. A bunch of killers out there.

Enjoy those ruck weights in SUT as well. The lightest ruck on our team in a summer class was right at 85 lbs dry for a 3 day Student field problem. You guys have more shit.
Who was your Cadre in SOPC II? Do you have a short or long language, and what is your phase II start date?
I don't know if you're aware, but Phase II and Sage now allow GPS units. They changed that about a month ago, but because of the ease of navigation they are supposedly quite a bit harder on grading the quality of your ambush. Let me know if thats been put out for your track. Also, who is your Stu Co cadre? Feel free to PM me that info if you'd rather not post it on an open forum.

I've got long language, we were told Jan 14 is our start date, team 3 I think. I've heard bad shit about team 4. (PERSEC VIOLATION) is our tac at D co as of now. I think one of the reasons SOPC 2 got real gay was that (EDITED PERSEC) from field team 4 in SUT is the SOPC 2 NCOIC now. He was dropping people from the course, recommending NTR and shit like that. Kind of a ball buster/tab protector. If people are doing the right thing you had nothing to worry about. some teams that skipped priorities of work in the PB and went to the mess plan got busted, and their remaining 2 MRES were thrown in a fire in front of them and burned. They just didn't eat for 2 days. real hardcore I guess.

I don't know (EDITED) personally, but the team that everyone used to freak out about having was Field Team 3. They broke up some of the Field Teams, but 3 and 4 are still notoriously harder than 1 and 2.
Your track cadre is a great guy. I know him from the Ops side of SWCS, and didn't realize he just picked up a track. Good guy though from my experiences. Really laid back, and is on top of admin shit behind the scenes. Hopefully that carries over for you guys.
Best of luck with SUT - it has been my experience that tabbed guys have an easier time with the field problems simply because Cadre realize they've already done all of this shit. On the same token though, be aware that they'll expect you to do everything you can to help the guys on your team, and if the 18Xs or lower enlisted struggle, Cadre will look to you as the person responsible for lacking the leadership of a strong NCO with experience.
Enjoy Christmas and all of that. Language school is gay. Be sure you take plenty of Monster and Provigil if you have it...otherwise you'll want to sleep, haha.

Hey, is that FAG from 3rd Group who turned out to be a bitch in Afghanistan still running around student company still smoking everyone and calling them "Commando"? You know, the FAG that drives a Miata with a cigarette, nick named "combat Jack"? He still around? I've heard that he had his SF tab revoked but I'm not sure.
