I could see him smoking them, if they were breaking into HIS home... but, to grab his gun, and walk outside and smoke them as they come out of his NEIGHBORS home, is a bit much.
I am all about self defense... and protecting you and yours... but, lethal force over property? Hmmm....
Then again, it's the internet, and we all know that the media does not slant things.
I was not there, I don't know what went down... but, in the end, Good Guy 2, Bad Guys... well, they be DEAD.
Dead men tell no tales.

Its kind of up in the air right now. I heard the tapes, conversation between him and the 911 center. Time between his shots and arival of police...bout 30 seconds. He was determined to shoot, nothing the 911 operator could say to stop him. He left the phone, came back and said..."I did it", I shot them two". He was proud of himself.
Fact is, a shot in the air would have sufficed....
A local militant named Quanel X is protesting the shooting of two black men. If he protests in that neighborhood again, Im thinking he could end up shot. Biker dudes, rednecks, all screaming to be heard.
Ive seen this thing, heard it from beginning to end...I can't see the justification for smoking both of them. He wanst in danger.....

Because he was on the phone, said "I'm gonna do it" (or something to that effect) and then put the phone down shows pre-meditation. It also shows that he wasn't in any immediately perceived danger. He would have been better of to yell into the phone something like "get away! I'll shoot.. help me!.."
Then again, it is Texas.. they have a rather, (ahem...) shall we say, liberal interpretation of the 2nd amendment?..

Well, Texas has the Castle doctrine. You're fully permitted to blow away a dude robbing your house or car. He may or may not be able to extend that over to his neighbor's place, though. From a strictly legal standpoint, I couldn't see it happening. But, if either of those dudes were armed or made moves to suggest that they were armed, as opposed to him just walking outside and blasting them in the back, I could see shooting being totally legally justified.GSXRanger wrote:I could see him smoking them, if they were breaking into HIS home... but, to grab his gun, and walk outside and smoke them as they come out of his NEIGHBORS home, is a bit much.

Then again, I'm just pleased that two scumbags are sucking on the insides of body bags.

So now we're going to burn him for that? I wish my neighbors cared about my house like he does.
Where did we go so wrong that we second guess a guy who shoots 2 burglars. Regardless of his intent or percieved intent, the end state is that there are 2 less felons in this world. I strongly suspect he had made it all through his life without shooting someone until now. Had those felons not commited a crime none of this would have happened.
Its Black and White. When we add shades of grey shit gets fucked up.
They made a choice to burglarize that house, and put themselves in that situation. The public needs to accept that.......Personal Accountability

Who's to say he wasn't threatened? Who's to say they wouldn't come back for a witness or an easy mark? He was just trying to help. How does he rest easy knowing these two have seen him him? I think think things are better this way.

That's why I stated that I would not armchair QB this incident. I was not there with him, and I don't know any, let alone ALL of the facts.
Yes, it's nice that two fuckheads are no longer around to commit felonies. I applaud him for that. But, just the way this story is painted, I can't seen the justification.
I have a very open mind, and I support the right to defend yourself and yours... but, coupled with the statements to the 911 operator, and his actions afterwards... hmmm, we shall see.
I cast NO stones.
